General information

How you can call me

    Some years ago I was born and my parents name me: Dmitry Samersov. My father's name is Mikhail, so you can call me as Dmitry M. Samersov.
   My name looks simply but only while you not start to write official papers. Russian government for some unknown for me reason use french spelling - Dmitri, American one writes not shorter than Dmitriy. I prefer Dmitry
    Historically, I have a lot of University time English-speaking friends already accustomed don't pronounce hard v on the end of my last name, and I adjust  spelling of my name to Dmitry Samersoff.
    So fourth I'm Dmitry Samersoff or just Dmitry for friends.    

Where you can find me

    I leave in St.Petersburg, Russia. It's the best city of the world.    

What is my field of interest

    I love *NIX and C++. Also I love people - all of them. I have very good balance of technical and people management skills so the bets field for me is one where people are connected to UNIX.

Job objective

What kind of job I'm looking for

    First at all I'm looking for interesting job. I can't believe there is interesting job not related to UNIX, so I'm looking for UNIX related job.
    I also have not so wide available combination of molecular biology knowledge and programming skills, so I'm looking for biology and UNIX related job.
    I'm advanced C/C++ developer, so I'm looking for job related to UNIX development.
    I have no allergy to money, so I'm looking for UNIX related job with good salary.
    I accept contract, permanent, remote or all other offers. I have no country or climate restriction but prefer warm, not cold.

Education

What means five years of St.Petersburg University

    I became graduate student of biology division of St.Petersburg State University in 1987, and finished educational program in 1992. I have no formal diploma in hands but more than 13 years experience might atone me for it.

Why my education is incomplete

    1992 was the first year of "Perestroika", my laboratory terminated all works and all my teachers left Russia for the USA. I become unable to continue my investigations and have no wishes to begin a new one in the equipment and money restricted environment. Also my first child was born in 1992, so I need to make money to feed my wife and the son.     

Experience

How I stared developer carier

    Some times ago (1992), when the world was young enough, I left Biology for a small networker's firm (AnGy). I already had some Assembler and C programming skills to that point, primary in the field of interaction with non-standard (Russian made biology equipment) peripherals, but I was a light green networker. My hand is inserted into right place, so I quickly became a good cablier. Main task of this firm was planning, constructing and administration of Novell Netware 3.x based networks, and soon I began to write Netware oriented utilities. I saw my first UNIX (I can't remeber exactly whether it was SUN Interactive unix or something else) the same year. Our firm grew and united with another small firm (Rumba) specialized in billing software (it uses Clarion for DOS). My next step - AT department of big Food trading holding, called North-West trade association (over 800 employers) . I had grawn from junior developer to cheaf of IT department untill the holding dead at 1995 and it gave the real start to my UNIX developer carier. See resume.

I have lots of small works not listed in resume

This is Russian specialty. I already forgot most of such works, but the list below seems to be enough to demonstrate polymorphism of my life.

  4. UNIX to MSSQL data transfer program (WinNT, MS VC++ 5.0, ODBC, Linux) - 1998
  5. Main program of City's pharmacology phone support center (Linux, DOS Clarion 2.x) - 1997 -1998
  6. E-mail client with some special functions (BC++, DOS) - 1997
  7. Billing system for drug trading firm. (WinNT, MS Access) - 1995-1997
  8. Set of FIDO and network supporting utilities (OS/2, BC++, Rexx) - 1996
  9. Set of Bindery maintenance utility (Watcom C++ 10.0, Netware) - 1996
  10. Billing system for building firm (DOS Clarion 2) - 1995
  11. MHS like mail system (Client + NLMs), with partners (Watcom C++ 10.0 Netware 3.11, Btreive) - 1994

Skills

Win32 and me

    I have good experience Win32 debugging (windbg etc) porting and cross-platform development but I have very limited experience in pure Win32 programming and administration.
    I have enough experience in MS Windows and MS Office family usage including some MS Access programming because it's  one of popular instrument of billing and reporting in Russia.
    I also am an advanced user of different design and publishing related programs in Win32 or Mac OS environment, like Adobe Illustarator, Adobe Pagemaker, Adobe Photoshop etc.    

Oracle and me

   I'm not a DBA. Time to time I'm afraid to say it but I'm not a DBA. Nevertheless I have good experience of Oracle setup and turning in *NIX environment. Aslo my knowlge is enough to perform some DB design (Errwin, PowerDesigner) and SQL programming if necessary.

CISCO routers and me

   Each good networker should configure CISCO router at least once in his life. I also did it. I can perform basic setup
on 25xx, 26xx, 36xx. Also my experience covers some advanced setup topics like IPSec, CET and GRE tunnels.
I have no compiler for CISCO ios, so it lays out of my primary field of interest.

Personal information

My poetry

    I like good poetry, and ever try to make good poetry by myself. Unfortunately, I can write poetry in Russian only (I have no spear to shake, may be this is a case), so I have no chance to leave trace in English literature. If you can read Russian click here.    

My hobbies

    I like to cook and to eat. I started to write "bachelor's cook book" but there is a little chance to finish it in the current life especially when my wife takes care to practical part of the book. May be it is better to switch to "husband's eat book".

I'm Karate guy.

    There are a good Japanese imagination: getsuei komichy (moonlight road) - the way passed by samurai from the born to the death. I practiced karate over ten years with some breaks. Karate is more than just a free time hobby - it's the drug and the lifestile. I tried othe MA (Boxing, Aikido, BJJ etc) but my hart with Karate. See budo page.

My length, weight etc.

    I have 178 sm. length (70.078740157480311 inches as report xcalc) and 84.9 kG weight at the morning (yes, I try not to cross 85Kg barier), two ears, two brown eyes, black hair, hands, feet, one heart and so on - typical Homo Sapiens (Mammalian, Hordata) of mail gender.
  I prefer night time to work and early morning to sleep.    

My family

    Similar to most people I have parents. I also have a former wife (better to say the first wife). Couple of years ago I found a beautiful women - the Women and ask her to become my wife. I was quite surprised when she had answed yes.
I fall into deep thinking if you ask me "How many children you have?". It's really hard question. Currently (end of 2006) my 3 years son Oleg wakes up me at the middle of the night. See family page .
